’London, the Low Carbon Capital’ showcases a number of London Development Agency initiatives to address climate change, while also highlighting the city’s creativity and enterprise
The themes Live, Move, Nourish, Work, Play, Love, Learn and Connect are represented throughout the exhibition.
London's exhibition is spread over two floors of the ZedPavilion and incorporates various exhibits, a bar, an auditorium, open spaces, viewing platforms and meeting rooms.
Rooms at the exhibition
London's exhibition is divided into four key areas:
Low Carbon London
Shop London
Unpack London
VIP Room
The main ground floor space of the exhibition houses a model of London's Olympic Park.
A projected animation highlights how the city is using the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games as a catalyst to establish east London as an international centre for sustainable businesses and enterprise.
Shop London has a range of products on show, which are either available from London's cultural institutions or have been designed by London-based designers, and features items created in an environmentally friendly method.
The products can be bought from the Shop London online store, at expo.CultureLabel.com.
Unpack London is an exhibition of 26 especially commissioned suitcases, with mini exhibits in each one.
Each exhibit highlights a range of initiatives and strategies that London is using to develop its low-carbon capital credentials, while also highlighting why the city remains a world-leading destination to invest, study and live in.
Urban Best Practice Area
In recognition of their significance in the world today, this is the first time in the history of the Expo that individual cities have been invited to participate. It's estimated that 70% of the world's population will live in cities by 2020.
The Urban Best Practice Area (UBPA) is a specific exhibition section at the Expo, which has been created to complement the country and corporate pavilions.
Cities based in this area are demonstrating methods to improve the quality of urban life and sharing their experiences and ideas on how to improve urban development.
There are five zones at the Expo - Zone A, B, C, D and E - where exhibitors will be showcasing ideas and developments, and building relationships.
The UBPA is located in Zone E and the London exhibition can be found in the ZedPavilion, which is in the north section.
