London is Open for Business in Shanghai
27 Jul 2010
The official launch of London Week at Shanghai Expo - a week long campaign to promote London as a destination of choice - was marked last night (Monday 26 July) with a 'London Open for Business' reception.
'London Open for Business' was hosted by Richard Barnes, Deputy Mayor of London and JIANG Zhuoqing, Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Municipal Government and followed a positive meeting with Al Baojun, the Vice Mayor of Shanghai. The reception was both an opportunity to congratulate the Shanghai authorities for delivering such a spectacular World Expo and for guests to meet London and UK stakeholders who were in Shanghai.
Today (Tuesday 27 July) London celebrates two years to the start of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The day begins with an explanation of legacy masterplanning in association with the Institute for Sustainability (IfS) and the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) and a tour of Expo Park. At this evening's 'Next Stop London' reception at the UK Pavilion the London delegation will be joined by Chinese athletes and investors to celebrate the countdown to the 2012 Games.
London Week has already received much coverage with the Chinese media with one front page headline reading: Next Stop? Invest in London!
